about
The Carneddau Mountains of Snowdonia cover one of the largest amalgamations of high ground in the United Kingdom. Surrounded by steep cliffs and dense mires, with summits named for the ancient rulers of Wales.
A hiding place of rebels and home to wild horses, where swirling mists encircle soaring peaks and play havoc with the weary mind.
lyrics
Drawn to this valley, that haunts my dreams
The paths guide us to sky
Shattered ridges, where few have trod
Yet ancient beasts still roaming wild
Abode of giants, the gods of old
Foul mist clings the mountainside
Under their bastions, lie lakes of ice
Whose fathoms I dare not descry
Ascend the black ladders, of Ysgolion Duon
Carved by forces of time
Standing upon this fortress of stone
Ancient landscape so wide
Heart of a kingdom devoured by Rome
Yet these peaks held the line
Source of dark rivers, spewn forth from their stones
Deep gullies of unlight
To, the windblown plateaus of frost
Black chasms lure me on
Carry my soul up high
Might of The Carneddau
Weary, yet still marching on
Harried, by Lithrig Yr Wrach
Towers of iron and slate
Forging, my weapons of hate
Sullen, yet proudly I stand
Bound to, spirit nor man
Shadowed amphitheaters so cold
Echo battle cries to the night
Falcons scour the cliffs for their prize
Carrion littered bogs halt our stride
Drowning rains wash all aside
Permeating crypts of old tribes
Storm clouds greet me, Gwydion hails thee
Summon forth your wights
That lay through barren years untold
'til savage snows are nigh
Dusk's fearful wrath, on our heels, to the tracks
Beyond hope, beyond maps, for the shelter in our grasp
To, the windblown plateaus of frost
Black chasms lure me on
Carry my soul up high
Might of The Carneddau
